Charging in the camera

Yes – in the camera body via USB‑C: when the camera is switched off, from the power adapter or a USB device such as a PC (possibly slower in that case); when the camera is switched on, only from USB PD devices, e.g. the power adapter from the battery charger DMW‑BTC15 (optional accessory) – slower and not in every case during use; a battery in the battery grip DMW‑BG1/DMW‑BGS5 is not charged; a battery charger is not included (DMW‑BTC15 as an optional accessory); with European models produced after September 2024, the power adapter and USB cable are no longer included either – Panasonic then recommends the power adapter DMW‑AC11 (optional accessory) or, for commercially available power adapters, USB‑C with USB PD 9 V/3 A (27 W)

Power via USB

Yes – via USB‑C with the battery inserted, from the power adapter or a USB device such as a PC; without USB PD, only power is supplied and the battery is not charged; depending on use, the battery may continue to discharge; with USB PD devices from 9 V/3 A (27 W), battery consumption is reduced; depending on the device, power supply may not be possible

Measurement conditions according to Panasonic: CIPA standard, Panasonic SDXC card, supplied battery; same for monitor and viewfinder; depending on the lens, 370 (H-ES12060) or 390 (H-FS12060) shots – the lower value is used here; when recording to an external SSD, 310 or 320 shots; in the viewfinder with Power Save LVF Shooting (sleep mode after 1 s) approx. 1,300 or 1,350 shots; video: actual recording time when repeatedly switching on/off and starting/stopping recording, with SD card (with external SSD approx. 40 min).

Charging and power via USB: information from Panasonic on the camera – we have not tested whether it also charges replacement batteries in the camera.
